Description

As household expenses outpace wages, more people are living with roommates. The 2016 census shows that Canadian multi-generational households are the fastest-growing. Non-census family households of two or more persons, such as roommates or siblings, and other family households excluding multi-generational households also sharply increased. Similarly, urbanization, pressure on land use, increasing social mobility, and growth in student participation push demand for housing in cities around the world. Amidst these changes, the growing tech sectors and the lack of affordability and housing choices encourage the trend of commercial co-living. Consumers will find inconsistent regulation and consumer protection enforcement in this segment of the housing market. This book explores the challenges.
